Clubs support the training of service dogs by the following
schools:
Leader Dogs for the
Blind (Rochester, Michigan, USA)
Founded
by three Detroit area Lions Clubs members in 1939,
Leader Dogs for the Blind provides guide dogs to people
who are blind and visually impaired to enhance their
mobility, independence and quality of life. Each year,
over 270 students attend our 26-day residential training
program to be paired with a guide dog. This is a
life-changing event that opens the door to independence,
safety and self-worth for many of our students

(Lions Foundation of Canada) (Oakville, Ontario, Canada)
Since
1983, the lives of over 1200 men, women and children
from the age of 8 to 84, have been enriched by the
services of specially trained Dog Guides from Lions
Foundation of Canada.
These Dog Guide "handlers" from as far east as St
John's, Newfoundland, and as far west as Victoria BC.,
have experienced the enrichment of their lives through
newfound freedom and independence with the companionship
and assistance of a devoted Dog Guide partner.
